The team of Dr Eva Suarthana from the centre de recherche de l’hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal, CIUSSS NIM, developed and validated calculator for occupational asthma that is now available on Calculate by QxMD for iOS, Android and web at: https://qxcalc.app.link/occ-asthma-hmw
Physicians at secondary/tertiary centers and/or who have access to the objective tests could use this calculator to estimate the likelihood of occupational asthma in workers with lower respiratory symptoms exposed to high-molecular weight agents (mostly proteins, such as: flour, animal allergens, latex, etc.) and still at work 1 month prior to assessment. The development of a different diagnostic model for workers exposed to low-molecular-weight agents (mostly chemicals) is underway.
